Town of Cambridge Information
The Town of Cambridge in Perth is an LGArea in the inner western suburbs of the Western Australian capital. It lies about about 5 km west of the CBD and extends east where it reaches the Indian Ocean at City Beach. The Town covers an area of 22 sq km and encompasses some or all of the nine suburbs listed above. Parts of some of these suburbs fall into other adjoining LGAs.
The population of the city of Cambridge was just under 24,000 in 2006 and was part of the City of Perth prior to zone restructuring in the mid 1990s.
The area was originally part of the North Perth municipality which was amalgamated into the City of Perth in 1915. In 1993 the City of Perth was split up again this time creating 3 new LGAs alongside a smaller City of Perth. These new LGAs were Town of Vincent, Town of Cambridge and the Town of Victoria Park. |
